Accra: Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has ended her seven-year professional relationship with the Ghanaian music duo KECHE, bringing to a close a partnership that began in 2019. In a statement issued by GEM Multimedia Ghana Ltd, the company announced that the contractual arrangement between Joana Gyan Cudjoe and KECHE Music Group, now known as KECHE Global, had expired and would not be renewed.
According to Ghana Web, the statement indicated that Joana Gyan Cudjoe's involvement with KECHE Global will cease, including her roles in management, financing, investment, executive production, and other business activities. Over the past seven years, Joana Gyan played a crucial role in advancing the careers of Andrew Kofi Cudjoe, known as Keche Andrew, and Joshua Kojo Ampah, known as Keche Joshua, by providing financial and professional support.
Her contributions encompassed funding for music recordings and videos, marketing and promotion, branding, artist development, travel, performances, and media engagements. GEM Multimedia Ghana Ltd emphasized that Joana Gyan's involvement extended beyond financial investment to include executive production, management, strategic planning, and efforts to position the group for a wider African and international audience.
During the collaboration, KECHE released several songs and collaborations with prominent Ghanaian artists, including Akwaboah, Kuami Eugene, Fameye, Epixode, Mr. Drew, and Lasmid. The group's name change from KECHE to KECHE Global was part of Joana Gyan's effort to provide a broader international identity.
The company clarified that the end of the business relationship was amicable, without any personal conflict between the parties. Joana Gyan Cudjoe reiterated that the separation does not affect her personal and family relationship with Keche Andrew, her husband.
KECHE Global will now operate independently, with the duo responsible for determining their own management arrangements, investors, business partners, record companies, producers, and promoters. Joana Gyan plans to redirect her focus and resources towards her own businesses, investments, music-related projects, and the discovery and development of new talents.
On issues concerning ownership and creative rights associated with the group's works, GEM Multimedia Ghana Ltd stated that any arising matters would be handled professionally in accordance with existing agreements and applicable laws.
Despite ending her professional involvement with the group, Joana Gyan Cudjoe encouraged fans and supporters to continue supporting KECHE Global and their music. She expressed gratitude to the duo and everyone involved in the group's journey, including musicians, producers, songwriters, directors, engineers, media professionals, and other industry stakeholders.
The statement noted that the experience provided valuable lessons in music, entertainment, management, production, marketing, international business, and creative partnerships. Joana Gyan Cudjoe is now looking forward to a new chapter, focusing on discovering and developing new talents, producing music, investing in creative projects, and creating opportunities for emerging African artists.
