Accra: Madam Mary Nyamekye Ankrah, the Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has urged students to be patriotic and responsible citizens. She emphasized the importance of upholding national values, engaging in community service, and promoting social harmony, thereby contributing positively to society.
According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Ankrah made these remarks during the official handing-over and swearing-in ceremony of newly elected Civic Education Club executives at St Brother Andre Senior High School, located at Opeikuma near Kasoa. This annual event, organized by the NCCE, reaffirms the club's role in promoting informed, active, and responsible citizenship within the Opeikuma community and beyond.
The ceremony gathered students, civic education leaders, and community members to celebrate the achievements of the outgoing executives and welcome a new team committed to civic engagement and active citizenship. The newly elected executives include Mr. Megan Spencer Kwao as Chairman, Nana Kwaku Boakye Boateng as Vice Chairman, Emmanuel Dossah as Secretary, Ms. Rachel Opongbea as Assistant Secretary, Maame Akyea as Treasurer, and Ms. Carlotta Bannerman as Assistant Treasurer. Other positions include Ms. Christabel Tsagli as Organiser, Eryn Sasu as Assistant Organiser, Steph-Angel Annan as Media Manager, Ms. Joanne Asante as Public Relations Officer (PRO), and Arnaud Nzingha as Assistant PRO.
Madam Ankrah encouraged the club to focus on safe internet usage, increasing youth participation in community activities, striving for excellence, and prioritizing national service. Mr. Abraham Seowabor, Assistant Headmaster of St Brother Andre Senior High School, assured the club of the school's continued support and advised the new executives to perform their duties in accordance with the ethics, rules, and regulations governing the club.
Mr. Megan Spencer Kwao, the new Chairman, expressed gratitude to members for their confidence in him and his colleagues, pledging to lead with integrity, inclusiveness, and dedication. He appealed to members to cooperate and actively participate in club activities to ensure the success of the new administration. Mr. Nuamah Owusu, the outgoing Chairman, thanked the former executives for their support during their pioneering leadership journey and noted the chapter's role in fostering inclusiveness on campus. He urged the new executives to remain committed to the growth and success of the club as part of their contribution to civic education in the country.
