Accra: The Member of Parliament for Nanton Constituency, Dr Mohammed Sherif Abdul-Khaliq, has extended support to his constituents affected by the recent flooding in parts of Accra by donating essential relief items.
According to Ghana Web, the donation included 100 student mattresses, 50 bags of rice, and 17 boxes of cooking oil, with each box containing 12 bottles. These contributions are intended to provide immediate relief to families who have been adversely affected by the floods, aiding them in managing the challenges they face.
During the presentation, Dr Khaliq emphasized that this gesture is part of his ongoing commitment to assisting constituents during challenging periods, irrespective of their location. He stated that the aid is designed to alleviate the difficulties experienced by the residents as they work to recover from the flood's impact, and he reiterated that the welfare of his constituents is a top priority.
The MP expressed his gratitude to the beneficiaries for their resilience and thanked them for their confidence and support, particularly during the 2024 general elections. He encouraged the affected residents to remain optimistic as they strive to rebuild their lives after the floods' damaging effects.
Dr Khaliq also appealed for sustained support for flood victims and urged individuals, organizations, and stakeholders to continue providing assistance to communities impacted by natural disasters.
The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the MP's gesture, acknowledging him as a compassionate and responsive representative who consistently shows concern for their welfare. They noted that the support will significantly help in addressing the immediate needs of the households affected by the floods.
