Accra: The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has seized a large consignment of controlled drugs following a major intelligence-led operation.
According to Ghana Web, an operation by NACOC led to the interception of a 40-foot trailer transporting approximately five million tablets of Tapentadol (250mg).
The consignment, which was en route to the Niger Republic, was seized following a carefully coordinated exercise by authorities. NACOC indicated that the bust followed a carefully coordinated exercise based on intelligence gathering, emphasising ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and the illegal movement of regulated pharmaceuticals across borders.
Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the intercepted consignment. They are currently in custody and assisting investigators with further inquiries. Officials believe the individuals may be linked to a broader trafficking network involved in the cross-border distribution of controlled substances. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full scope of the operation and identify other potential collaborators.
