Accra: The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has publicly apologised to Ebenezer Twum Asante, the Senior Executive Vice President of MTN Group, following the erroneous publication of his image during a routine operation at Accra International Airport. The incident occurred during an exercise that took place on February 19, 2026.
According to Ghana Web, NACOC clarified in a statement dated April 14, 2026, that the operation involved various detection measures, including the use of sniffer dogs, advanced scanning equipment, and profiling techniques. These were part of the Commission's efforts to monitor passenger movements effectively. During the process, photographs were taken for documentation purposes, some of which were mistakenly shared on NACOC's official social media platform.
NACOC emphasised that Asante was accidentally captured in the images and confirmed that he is not connected to any ongoing investigation. The Commission expressed regret for any inconvenience or misunderstanding that the publication may have caused to Asante, stating, "NACOC herein sincerely apologises to Mr Ebenezer Twum Asante for any inconvenience, distress, or misunderstanding the publication may have caused."
The apology was formalised by Francis Opoku Amoah, who currently serves as the Acting Director of Public Affairs and International Relations at NACOC.
