Accra: The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has issued a directive to pre-tertiary schools, mandating them to halt the use of unapproved assessment items and mock examinations. This move aims to ensure that all educational assessments are vetted and authorized by the appropriate body.
According to Ghana News Agency, the directive was communicated through a statement signed by Prof. Samuel Ofori Bekoe, the Director-General of NaCCA. The directive is a response to growing concerns about the utilization of assessment materials created by unapproved consortiums, institutions, and individuals in some basic schools.
The statement emphasized that NaCCA is the statutory body responsible for approving all assessment items and tasks for pre-tertiary schools in Ghana. It reiterated that no school is permitted to use any externally developed assessment items or tasks unless they have been vetted and approved by NaCCA.
Furthermore, the directive calls for immediate compliance from all heads of pre-tertiary schools. It also warns that any school that procures, administers, or facilitates the use of unauthorized assessment materials will face appropriate regulatory sanctions.
