Accra: Newly installed leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Nana Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Jnr., also known as Akofena, has announced that he now considers his siblings as his children, signaling his readiness to reconcile with his elder sister, Sarah Adwoa Safo. During a public address on July 27, 2026, Akofena shared that his new position as head of the Kristo Asafo Mission has altered his relationship dynamics with his family.
According to Ghana Web, Akofena expressed a desire to mend relations with his elder sister, Sarah Adwoa Safo, amid familial tensions. He emphasized his commitment to resolving long-standing disputes, stating, "Together with the family heads, I'll call the eldest of my 'children,' Adwoa Safo, so we can settle our differences." This declaration follows weeks of internal conflict within the family of the late Apostle Prof. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Kantanka Group.
The succession dispute turned violent on June 21, 2026, when Sarah Adwoa Safo, a former Dome-Kwabenya MP, was injured by a gunshot during Akofena's installation as the new leader. The incident led to the arrest of several suspects, including Akofena, who were later released on bail. Recently, an Accra High Court confirmed Akofena's rightful position as the leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission after the late Apostle's will was read.
