Assin fosu: Two individuals lost their lives on Saturday in a tragic accident involving two motorbikes along the Finest Pub stretch in Assin Fosu, located on the Cape-Coast highway. The victims were identified as Mr. Daniel Agyeko, aged 19, and Ms. Patience Pamful, aged 23.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Solomon Nyame, 25, sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at St Francis Xavier Hospital. The Central North Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) Commander, ASP Wonder Lumor, reported that Mr. Nyame was riding an unregistered royal motorbike with Ms. Pamful as a pillion rider. They were traveling at high speed from the Assin Juaso direction towards Assin Fosu.
Upon reaching the Finest Pub Road, Mr. Nyame allegedly noticed another motorbike from the opposite direction attempting to turn into a junction leading to the Pub. However, he failed to exercise care and attention, resulting in him veering into the opposite lane and colliding with the motorbike ridden by Mr. Agyeko.
ASP Lumor explained that the collision's impact threw both motorbikes, their riders, and the pillion rider onto the pavement. The three victims suffered various degrees of injuries and were rushed to St Francis Xavier Hospital, where Mr. Agyeko and Ms. Pamful were pronounced dead on arrival.
The bodies of the deceased have been placed in the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. Surprisingly, ASP Lumor noted that the motorbikes involved in the crash were not found at the accident scene. He urged commercial motorcycle operators, commonly known as 'okada' riders, to exercise extreme caution, adhere to traffic regulations, and prioritize safety at all times.
