Accra: The Lead Convenor of Arise Ghana, Bernard Mornah, has taken a swipe at Frank Davies, the lawyer representing former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, in response to recent remarks that Mornah perceived as personal attacks.
According to Ghana Web, Frank Davies, in an interview on JoyNews, had cautioned Bernard Mornah against making sweeping allegations about his client, Ken Ofori-Atta, without any evidence. Davies reportedly described Mornah's comments about the former finance minister as 'pedestrian' and a sign of 'poor literacy.'
In a recent development, Bernard Mornah responded on the same media platform, asserting that Frank Davies has no right to caution him over his choice of words. Mornah emphasized that if Davies believes his comments have harmed his client's reputation, he should seek legal recourse. "He doesn't have any right to warn me about the choice of what I want to say. If he thinks I have committed anything abominable, Frank, you know the way to the courts. That has been your mantra, and the mantra should not change," Mornah stated.
Bernard Mornah further questioned the integrity of Frank Davies, accusing him of misleading the public about the health condition of the former finance minister. He claimed that Davies should be ashamed of what he described as attempts to mislead Ghanaians. Mornah highlighted past statements made by Davies, alleging that the lawyer had previously cited Ofori-Atta's ill health as the reason for his absence from Ghana.
Mornah also raised questions about Ken Ofori-Atta's current situation, following reports of his arrest and detention by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He questioned whether Ofori-Atta is receiving medical treatment during his detention and challenged him to return to Ghana to address the allegations. "Now that he is in detention at an ICE facility, is that a medical facility? If the accusations we have made are untrue, he should be determined to come to Ghana to respond," Mornah added.
