Kpong: Right Rev Dr Lt Col Bliss Divine Agbeko (rtd), the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), emphasized the importance of purity among those who deliver the Word of God, stating that it should pass through a clean vessel to avoid contamination. Addressing delegates at the official opening of the 37th National Catechists and Evangelists conference, he stressed, "God is holy, His Words are holy, so those who carry the Word to others should be holy."
According to Ghana News Agency, the three-day conference, attended by over 200 delegates from all 16 presbyteries of the church, is themed 'Cleanliness is Next to Godliness: Keep Clean.' Rt Rev Dr Lt Col Agbeko highlighted that the Word of God should be impactful, causing listeners to grow spiritually. He urged the delegates to maintain purity in body, spirit, and soul, ensuring that their presence reflects their role as carriers of God's Word.
The Moderator pointed out that the shrinking congregations in the Church were due to the poor quality of the Word being preached and the carriers themselves. He encouraged delegates to align their motives and actions with the glory of God, contributing to the growth of the Church. Furthermore, he advocated for environmental cleanliness and the conservation of natural resources.
Rev Dr Lawson Kwaku Dzanku, the Clerk of the General Assembly, addressed the challenges related to the 'N-Pay Policy,' a digital platform introduced for processing tithes and offerings. He emphasized the importance of faithful adherence to the policy for improving the service conditions of Church Agents.
Catechist Francis Y. Siegu, National President of the Union, urged delegates to uphold discipline and integrity, fostering cordial relationships within their communities. He assured that efforts were being made to improve members' welfare and announced the forthcoming promulgation of the Union's Constitution at the conference.
The event was also attended by notable figures such as Presbyter Dr Salomey Praise Otami Abutiate and Rev Philip Atsiago, underscoring the significance of the gathering for the Church's leadership and its mission.
