Ajumako: The Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panyin Eduamoah Okyere, has called upon workers in the region to change their approach towards illegal mining and deforestation due to their detrimental impact on the environment. He addressed these issues during the 2026 May Day celebration held at Ajumako in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District.
According to Ghana Web, Okyere criticized the negative attitudes prevalent among some workers and urged them to cease illegal tree-felling practices that are harmful to the environment. He emphasized the need for improved sanitation practices and praised the government for abolishing certain taxes, including the E-levy. Furthermore, he encouraged workers to adopt a positive approach to their responsibilities.
At the same event, the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Deposit Protection Corporation, Galahad Alex Andoh, representing Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson, appealed for patience from workers towards the government. He outlined ongoing efforts to tackle teachers' accommodation challenges through the construction of classroom blocks and teachers' bungalows nationwide. Andoh also mentioned plans for additional housing projects, called for salary increases in the next budget, and urged the public to maintain confidence in the government.
Additionally, the District Chief Executive for Ajumako Enyan Essiam District, Andrews Kojo Duodu, encouraged workers to stay dedicated to their duties, assuring them that their concerns would be addressed.
