Accra: A young miner has gained significant attention on social media after expressing his decision to stop attending church due to the Church of Pentecost's allocation of funds towards building a prison. In a video that has been widely shared online, the miner revealed that church attendance has never been a prominent aspect of his life since childhood.
According to Ghana Web, the miner, during an interview captured on video, articulated his preference for directing his financial contributions towards orphanages and vulnerable children rather than church activities. His comments have sparked discussions about the priorities of religious institutions in the community.
The miner explained that his decision to detach from the Church of Pentecost stemmed from discovering that the church had used its resources to construct a prison, while he believed those funds could have been better utilized to aid the underprivileged. He emphasized his disappointment by stating, "I was a member of The Church of Pentecost, but I stopped attending after church funds were used to build a prison while some people are dying of hunger elsewhere."
Moreover, the miner criticized the church's educational policies, pointing out that although the Church of Pentecost operates a university, members from disadvantaged backgrounds are still required to pay tuition fees, denying them free access to education.
