Accra: Mr. Gilbert Abeiku Santana Aggrey, a Deputy Chief Executive of the Ghana Tourism Authority, has commended the Mfantsiman Old Girls Association (MOGA) for organizing the annual National Health Walk. He described this year's event, held at the University of Ghana vicinity in Accra, as an initiative that brings together old students of Mfantsiman Girls and other schools in the country to participate in a fitness exercise.
According to Ghana News Agency, the MOGA National Health Walk is an annual event on the association's calendar and part of their broader commitment to promoting preventive health, wellness, and community engagement. The 2026 program saw simultaneous activities across all Regional Chapters in Ghana and in the diaspora, including a health walk, aerobic sessions, and health screening exercises for over 500 former students of Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School.
Mr. Aggrey noted in an interview that busy work schedules, particularly for corporate staff and those who travel long distances to their workplaces, leave little time for exercise. He also highlighted the lack of parks and recreational facilities in communities, coupled with certain lifestyles, as contributing factors to the rise of non-communicable diseases.
He expressed satisfaction with MOGA's initiative, noting that the event is enhanced by the participation of alumni from other schools such as Adisadel, Ghana National, and Mfantsipim. Mr. Aggrey emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering networking, social cohesion, and opportunities among people from different organizations and industries. He praised MOGA for creating a healthy and beneficial event.
