Hohoe: Mr Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, the Member of Parliament for Hohoe Constituency, has unveiled a comprehensive list of priority projects for the year 2026 aimed at transforming various sectors within the constituency.
According to Ghana News Agency, the projects span crucial areas including education, health, industrialization, employment, women empowerment, youth apprenticeship programs, agriculture, media and communication development, communication network upgrades, sports and entertainment, tourism, and governance. During his inaugural 'Meeting the Press', Mr Tsekpo emphasized a significant financial commitment to education, including GH?500,000 for scholarships and the establishment of a state-of-the-art ICT lab at Santa Esther Senior High School in Wli.
Mr Tsekpo announced plans to collaborate with the Assembly to build a 6-unit classroom for Wli Todzi Primary School, commence construction of Fodome Senior High School, and develop a 12-unit classroom block and advanced ICT lab for Evangelical Presbyterian Technical Institute in Alavanyo. Additional educational improvements include the provision of 1,000 desks and a 12-unit toilet facility for Hohoe EP Senior High School, and the construction of a 2,500-capacity dining hall and kitchen for Alavanyo Senior High/Technical. A Smart lab initiative is also set to begin for 12 basic schools in traditional areas of the constituency.
In the health sector, Mr Tsekpo outlined plans to complete facilities at Hohoe Gborxome, Gbi Avega, and Wli Dzogbega, fence the Adabraka Health Centre, and build new nurses' quarters at Alavanyo Wudidi. The Kpoeta Health Centre is set to expand with a maternity ward, and expansion projects are planned for Wli Afegame.
Mr Tsekpo expressed intentions to operationalize the Gbi Industrial Light area, establish the National Signal Bureau Training School, and construct cocoa and ginger processing factories. A one million Ghana Cedi seed fund for the 'Next Level Women Empowerment Fund' will be launched to support women entrepreneurs, aiming to involve 500 youth in apprenticeship programs and an equal number in various Youth Employment Agency modules.
In agriculture, expansion of palm nut plantations, fertilizer, irrigation support, and ginger farming projects are slated. Media personnel will benefit from dedicated scholarships, professional training for Bloggers, and a Municipal Media Personality Award Scheme launch.
Communication network upgrades are planned in the Fodome Amle enclave, Gbledi, Alavanyo Abehenease/Wudidi, and Alavanyo Dzogbedze. Additionally, new markets will be constructed, existing markets upgraded, and community sports facilities, including mini stadia at St Francis College of Education and Alavanyo, will be developed to foster youth talent in sports and entertainment.
Under tourism, the completion of the Art Centre at Wli Waterfalls and associated projects, along with the construction of a museum for the first Miss Ghana in Alavanyo Dzogbedze, are envisaged. Mr Tsekpo also aims to facilitate the confirmation of Metropolitan status for Hohoe and establish a parliamentary office to enhance governance efficiency.
Mr Tsekpo conveyed his gratitude to the media, traditional authorities, and other stakeholders for their support in developing the constituency. Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Prosper Kumi, highlighted the collaborative efforts within the first year of the administration, noting the importance of progress in the Municipality. He praised Mr Tsekpo's commitment to duty and alignment with President John Dramani Mahama's Reset Agenda.
