Kadjebi: Mr Daniel Danso, former Volta Regional Chairman of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has asserted that macroeconomic stability alone is meaningless unless it results in job creation, increased incomes, and sustainable livelihoods for citizens. Speaking at the Oti Region CLOGSAG May Day celebration in Kadjebi, themed 'Pivoting to Growth, Jobs and Sustainable Livelihood Beyond Macroeconomic Stability,' Mr Danso emphasized the need to convert economic gains into tangible improvements in people's daily lives after years of economic sacrifices.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Danso, who is also a Board Member of the CLOGSAG Fund, expressed that the theme reflects the shared aspirations of workers for their labor to produce lasting benefits. He urged workers in the Oti Region to proactively move beyond complaints about administrative issues, focusing instead on building systems that create jobs, support communities, and enhance welfare.
He further explained that sustainable livelihood encompasses the freedom for civil servants to engage in farming, trading, or side businesses without fear of victimization. Mr Danso highlighted that real stability is achieved when workers' allowances reflect their output and their pensions provide peace of mind.
Moreover, Mr Danso emphasized that fiscal consolidation efforts must now pivot towards a growth and employment-driven agenda, aiming to deliver tangible improvements in living standards across all sectors. He advised that CLOGSAG should evolve into an enterprise with practical programs generating internal income for its members.
Encouraging workers to upgrade their skills to enhance their earning potential, Mr Danso noted that 'salary is seed, not harvest.' He concluded by urging Ghanaian workers to aspire beyond mere survival and strive for long-term economic empowerment.
