Accra: Award-winning Ghanaian rapper M.anifest has weighed in on the flooding crisis gripping Accra on a yearly basis. As heavy rains left several parts of the capital at a standstill on Monday, June 29, 2026, the wordsmith took to X with a simple statement. "In Accra you don't plan for disaster, but disaster plans for you," he wrote.
According to Ghana Web, the post quickly gained traction online, as many saw it as a description of the city's inability to manage flooding whenever heavy rains occur. Monday's downpour wreaked havoc across Accra, rendering several roads impassable, stranding commuters, and bringing vehicular movement in parts of the capital to a standstill-scenes that have become all too familiar to residents of the city.
Various other personalities have also added their voices to the flooding situation, pointing fingers at various authorities responsible for maintaining the city. 'Same script every year' was the sentiment expressed by another well-known figure, Nana Aba, who called out the authorities over flood issues, echoing the frustrations of many Accra residents who are exasperated by the recurring nature of this crisis.
