Accra: Mr Mohammed Baalbaki, the Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, has presented vehicles, motorbikes, and other logistical support to the Ghana Police Service to bolster its operational capabilities. The donation aims to aid the police in their efforts to combat crime and uphold law and order in the nation.
According to Ghana News Agency, the items donated included three Nissan Navara pickups, 20 Apsonic motorbikes, twenty 43-inch television sets, and 30 1.5-horsepower air conditioners. Mr Baalbaki made the presentation on behalf of the Lebanese Community in Ghana during a ceremony held at the Police Headquarters in Accra. He expressed that the Lebanese Community was honored to assist the Ghana Police Service, emphasizing the importance of adequate logistics for effective policing.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, received the items and expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador and the Lebanese Community for their generous contribution. He remarked that the donation signified the community's acknowledgement of the Police Service's efforts in reducing crime. The IGP assured that the items would significantly support crime-fighting initiatives and would be utilized effectively.
Furthermore, Mr Yohuno stated that the television sets and air conditioners would be installed at the new ward under construction at the Ghana Police Hospital, highlighting the timely arrival of these items. He also mentioned that the motorbikes would enhance intelligence-gathering operations, as criminals are increasingly using motorbikes to commit offenses.
