Accra: The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has announced the formation of a ministerial committee to review the revocation of the licence of Adamus Resources Limited. This decision comes in response to a petition from the mining company requesting an administrative review and potential reversal of the earlier decision.
According to Ghana Web, the announcement was made during a meeting with Adamus management. The Minister stated that the action is rooted in fairness and aims to protect investments within Ghana's mining sector. He emphasized the importance of reviewing the petition thoroughly, highlighting the constructive nature of the discussions with Adamus. "It is important that as a Minister I look at the petition that has been brought, and I can say it has been a very constructive meeting," Buah noted, ensuring that the process serves both investors and the Ghanaian public.
The committee, which includes officials from the Minerals Commission and the Lands Ministry, has been tasked with presenting its findings within two weeks. Buah affirmed that Adamus would have the chance to address any concerns raised during the review before a final decision is reached. "We will directly engage Adamus and give them the opportunity to address the issues," he said.
In the meantime, a management committee has been established to oversee operations at Adamus's mining site, ensuring order and continuity during the review process. The Minister stressed that the review process would be conducted impartially, without prejudice to the previous findings of the Minerals Commission.
Angela List, CEO of Adamus Resources, expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama and Minister Buah for revisiting the issue. She also thanked the company's workers, the public, and the media for their support while refuting allegations against the company. "We are a responsible mining company and we do not engage in illegality," she asserted, noting that the company has provided evidence to support its petition.
