Accra: Abraham Koomson, Secretary-General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), has called on President John Dramani Mahama to consider replacing the Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited, Adam Mutawakilu, amid ongoing water supply challenges.
According to Ghana Web, Koomson argued that unreliable water supply undermines productivity and poses a direct threat to the government's flagship 24-hour economy initiative. He emphasized that if the Managing Director is not meeting his target, a leadership change is necessary to address the persistent issue of damaged water pipes and improve service delivery.
Mutawakilu, who was appointed in early 2025, has faced mounting criticism as water shortages continue to affect Accra and other parts of the country. Although he has attributed the crisis to operational and supply constraints, Koomson insists that excuses are no longer acceptable. He highlighted the urgent need for decisive leadership to restore confidence and ensure reliable water supply.
