Accra: Rapper Kwesi Arthur has opened up about his widely discussed conflict with Ground Up Chale, attributing the situation to his lack of legal guidance when he signed a contract at a young age.
According to Ghana Web, Arthur shared his experiences in an interview with broadcaster Kafui Dey on YouTube, emphasizing the importance of patience and thorough understanding before entering into agreements in the music industry. "I signed an agreement when I was quite young. I didn't understand certain things. I was young and hungry and didn't have the right legal counsel around me," Arthur explained.
Arthur revealed that before the dispute became public, he had already dealt with its emotional impact privately and chose to make it public to halt ongoing issues. He stated, "Like I'd already gone through the process and like the emotional toll and everything for a long time. You know, so I feel like with me putting that out there... I feel like that was just me trying to put a stop to certain things that were going on behind the scenes."
Though he refrained from discussing further details due to the ongoing court case, Arthur expressed his desire for his story to serve as a warning to new artists. He emphasized the need for fair contract practices in Ghana's music industry and urged upcoming artists to seek proper legal advice. "I want to use my voice and my story as a lesson for other artistes and stakeholders in the industry, to preach for fairness. And for other artistes who are coming after me and are off my standing as well to seek the right legal counsel when going into anything as such," he advised.
