Accra: Elders of the Kudzragbe Clan in the Ada Traditional Area have called for unity among members to promote peace, reconciliation, and development as activities for the 89th Ada Asafotufiami Festival begin. The appeal comes amid recent disagreements surrounding the Wetsoyi Stool, which the elders said had negatively affected the progress and cohesion of the clan.
According to Ghana News Agency, Nomo Emmanuel Ofoe Agbenyegah, the head of the Fuvie-Wornorwem Family, stated that the entire Kudzragbe Clan had endorsed Nene Adela Haviatse Vleh II as the successor to the late divisional chief. He urged all members to rally behind the leadership in the interest of peace and development. He noted that the Asafotufiami Festival presented an opportunity for reconciliation and renewed commitment to the welfare of the clan and the Ada State.
Nomo Agbenyegah explained that resources left behind by their ancestors were being drained away to pursue court cases, which was causing more harm to the clan than good. Nomo Ofoe Akpo, the Stool Father of Labiawem, also appealed to members of the clan to put aside their differences and work together for the common good.
Nomo Akpo mentioned that the festival was not only a period for celebrating the cultural heritage of the Ada people but also a time for reflection on the past, assessment of the present, and planning for the future development of the Kudzragbe Clan and the Ada State. He expressed optimism that the renewed spirit of unity would strengthen the clan and contribute to the overall peace and development of the traditional area.
The annual Ada Asafotufiami Festival officially commenced on Thursday with the traditional Soobi Soobi procession, marking the beginning of a week-long celebration dedicated this year to purification, spiritual renewal, and communal reflection.
