Accra: Ghanaian highlife singer and songwriter Kuami Eugene has opened up about one of the darkest phases of his life, revealing how he lost almost everything and everyone he loved within a short period. Speaking in a recent interview with Anita Akuffo, the 'Angela' hitmaker recounted how he lost both his grandmother and father, two people he was deeply attached to, within the span of two years.
According to Ghana Web, the pain became even worse after Kuami Eugene was involved in a near-fatal accident that left him hospitalized for four months. The musician shared that during this challenging time, he was grateful to have enough money to cover the many responsibilities and medical expenses resulting from these tragedies. He explained the financial strain of having to travel home for funerals and pay for surgeries and hospital bills.
The award-winning musician further explained that his hospitalization meant he could not perform at shows or attend private events, which greatly affected his income. He emphasized the impact of this period on his financial stability, as performing is his main source of income.
Additionally, Kuami Eugene faced cruel and hateful comments on social media during his recovery. Some individuals falsely claimed he had died, spreading rumors about his condition. He described this social media backlash as one of the darkest experiences he has faced since rising to fame.
