Accra: Mr Solomon Kuyon, the Member of Parliament for the Krachi Nchumuru Constituency, has strengthened educational infrastructure by donating 150 dual desks and four brand-new 150cc ZAPEL motorbikes to the Krachi Nchumuru District Education Directorate. The initiative aims to alleviate the shortage of classroom furniture in several basic schools and enhance monitoring and supervision within the district's educational framework.
According to Ghana News Agency, the MP emphasized the transformative power of education for community development and opportunity creation for the younger generation. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that no child is deprived of quality education due to inadequate infrastructure and logistics. The dual desks are set to be distributed to Basic Schools facing severe furniture shortages, facilitating a conducive learning environment for pupils.
The donation also includes four motorbikes intended for School Improvement Support Officers (SISOs) to improve mobility, especially in accessing schools in remote areas. These motorbikes are expected to support regular inspections, monitoring of teaching activities, teacher mentorship, and quick responses to school challenges. Mr Kuyon urged education officers to maintain the logistics and ensure their use aligns with intended purposes to enhance educational outcomes.
Education officials, upon receiving the items, expressed gratitude for the timely intervention. Madam Gloria Ahorgah, the Krachi Nchumuru Director of Education, noted the persistent challenges of insufficient furniture and transportation, which affect teaching, learning, and supervision across the district's schools. The dual desks are anticipated to reduce overcrowding, while the motorbikes will enable regular field visits and provide ongoing professional support to teachers.
The MP's commitment to improving healthcare and education was commended by traditional authorities and residents in the beneficiary communities. They recognized the interventions as practical solutions to the constituency's developmental needs. At Grubi, chiefs and residents warmly welcomed the MP and his team, acknowledging his continuous support for community advancement. Similar receptions were organized at Wonando, Borae No. 2, and the Krachi Nchumuru District Education Directorate in Chinderi.
Mr Kuyon was accompanied by constituency executives, led by the Constituency Chairman, Nana Mambo, along with opinion leaders and supporters throughout the donation exercise.
