Krachi east: The Local Council of Churches in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region is calling on the government to support Ghanaian Christians to undertake pilgrimages to the Holy Land in Jerusalem and Israel.
According to Ghana News Agency, Bishop John Pang-Moot, Chairman of the Local Council of Churches, and Pastor Moro Mohammed, Spokespersons of the Churches, emphasized that visiting the land where Jesus was born, preached, performed miracles, died, and rose from the dead is a transformative experience that could deepen one's faith and connection with God.
They conveyed that it is an experience every Christian should have at least once in their lifetime, highlighting the significance of walking in the footsteps of Jesus and visiting sites such as the Church of the Nativity, the Mount of Beatitudes, the Via Dolorosa, and the Holy Sepulchre.
The church leaders pointed out that the pilgrimage offers opportunities for spiritual growth and immersion in the stories of salvation and redemption. They urged the government to provide support for Christians to make the journey, citing the precedent of government assistance for Muslim pilgrims to Mecca.
The call for support has been echoed by other religious bodies across the Oti region, who believe that such a pilgrimage would strengthen the faith of Ghanaian Christians and contribute to national development goals.
