Accra: The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA), alongside the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, has inaugurated the construction of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in Kpoi-Ete. This initiative is part of the government's agenda to broaden access to primary healthcare, especially in underprivileged communities.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Joseph Akuerteh Tettey, the MP for Kpone-Katamanso, emphasized the commitment of the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government towards development and improving citizens' wellbeing nationwide. He highlighted that the CHPS compound would enhance healthcare delivery in Kpoi-Ete by providing essential services closer to the residents. The MP reiterated the importance of basic healthcare access for national development and assured that the government would continue focusing on social infrastructure in deprived areas.
Mr. Samuel Tetteh Kwashie Morton, the MCE, assured the local community that the municipal assembly would oversee the project diligently to ensure adherence to specifications and timely completion. He announced further plans for a police station and a fire service station in the area to improve security and emergency responses. Morton also encouraged the contractor to employ local residents to expedite progress and offer temporary employment opportunities for local youth.
Nene Tetteh Abladu II, the Kpoi-Ete Mantse, expressed gratitude towards the government and the municipal assembly for undertaking the project, noting its overdue necessity. He urged for the project's swift completion to meet the healthcare needs of the community. Nene Abladu called on authorities to continue their efforts to improve living conditions in the area, which has historically lacked development.
The CHPS facility in Kpoi-Ete, a coastal community of about 400 residents, is scheduled for completion within 11 months. The community is situated along the shoreline where Kpone and Prampram meet.
