Tamale: The Konkomba Youth Association (KOYA) has expressed its deepest condolences to the royal family, chiefs, elders, and the people of the Dagbon Kingdom following the passing of Ya-Na Abukari II, the Overlord of the Dagbon Traditional Area.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Association stated that the death of the Overlord of Dagbon was a significant loss not only to the kingdom but also to the Northern Region and Ghana as a whole due to his remarkable contributions to peace, unity, and development.
In a press statement issued by KOYA, signed by Mr. Emmanuel N-yajapoa Onajah, its General Secretary, and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Tamale, the late Ya-Na was described as a visionary traditional ruler who dedicated his life to preserving Dagbon's rich cultural heritage and promoting harmonious coexistence among his people.
The statement highlighted that Ya-Na's reign was characterized by wisdom, humility, reconciliation, and an unwavering commitment to peace, which restored dignity and pride to the Dagbon Kingdom. It emphasized his role as a fatherly figure whose influence extended beyond Dagbon, inspiring unity and strengthening relationships among the various ethnic groups in northern Ghana.
KOYA expressed solidarity with the people of Dagbon during this difficult period of mourning and shared in their grief over the irreplaceable loss. The statement included prayers for Allah to grant the Royal Family, the Dagbon Traditional Council, and the entire Dagbon Kingdom the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
Additionally, KOYA prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the late Ya-Na and expressed hope that his legacy of peace, unity, and reconciliation would continue to inspire future generations. The statement urged the people of Dagbon to remain united and preserve the values of harmony and peaceful coexistence championed by the late Ya-Na to sustain the kingdom's progress and development.
