Accra: Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has declared his full support for the party's National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, concerning his ongoing 'Thank You' tour. Despite previous disagreements, Anyidoho believes that Nketiah's initiative to engage with the grassroots is a positive step for the party.
According to Ghana Web, Anyidoho shared his views during an interview on Okay FM on June 9, 2026. He acknowledged past differences with Asiedu Nketiah but emphasized his 100% backing for the chairman's efforts. Anyidoho recounted his tenure as Nketiah's deputy from 2014 to 2018, particularly noting the disconnect between the government and the party following the NDC's defeat in the 2016 elections.
Anyidoho highlighted that Nketiah's decision to resume the tour is crucial for the party's progress. He remarked that the party base's support is evident, as demonstrated by the lack of mockery Nketiah receives during his engagements. Anyidoho also criticized the current leadership of the country, expressing concerns about the president's leadership style and dismissing claims of being anti-John Mahama (JM).
Asiedu Nketiah's tour aims to reconnect with NDC party members nationwide and strengthen the party's grassroots support. There is also speculation that he might contest for the NDC flagbearership after President John Dramani Mahama's tenure.
