Accra: President of the Commonwealth Games Association Ghana, Richard Akpokavie, has praised sports minister Kofi Adams for his commitment and consistent support for sporting activities across the country. Speaking ahead of Ghana's participation in the 2026 Commonwealth Games, Akpokavie, who is also the president of the Ghana Olympic Committee, highlighted the Sports and Recreation Minister's active presence at sporting events.
According to Ghana Web, Akpokavie emphasized that Kofi Adams has distinguished himself from many of his predecessors through his dedication and support for athletes and sporting federations. He noted that Adams' tenure has been marked by his constant attendance at events he is invited to, showcasing his exceptional involvement in the sports sector.
Akpokavie expressed gratitude for the support provided by Adams, acknowledging the minister's efforts in promoting sports in Ghana. He also boldly stated that team Ghana is anticipated to not only return home with medals from the upcoming Games in Glasgow but also to attract investment opportunities for the country.
The president of the Ghana Olympic Committee shared his optimism for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, stating, "We pray that when we get to Glasgow, from July 22 when the opening ceremony takes place to August 2 when we close, we will come home with medals. I didn't say medal, I said medals. And of course, also come home with new investments and new opportunities for our country."
