Accra: KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flight KL 590, which departed from Accra en route to Amsterdam, was compelled to make an emergency landing back at Accra International Airport approximately 45 minutes after takeoff. The flight crew had displayed signs of anxiety during the incident.
According to Ghana Web, passengers who were later accommodated in various hotels in Accra reported that no specific reason was provided for the emergency landing. They were only informed that the flight had been rescheduled.
A passenger, who requested anonymity while speaking to MyNewsGh.com, shared that the flight initially departed at 10:08 pm, slightly behind the scheduled time of 10 pm. The passenger noted that midway through the journey, they noticed the aircraft was no longer progressing and suspected an issue. The announcement that the flight would return to Accra heightened concerns among those on board.
The passengers are now scheduled to depart Accra on June 12, 2026.
