Accra: Former Registrar of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, has denied allegations of wrongdoing linked to the award of scholarships during the tenure of the previous administration. His legal representatives, Sarkodie Baffour Awuah and Partners, issued a statement on Thursday, August 13, 2026, expressing concern over recent public comments made by Ghana's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, Sabah Zita Benson.
According to Ghana Web, the lawyers claimed the comments aimed to revive what they described as a 'false and misleading narrative' about Dr. Agyemang. They stated that their client executed his duties with diligence and has been fully cooperative with ongoing investigations into the scholarship allegations.
The legal team questioned the High Commissioner's decision to publicly discuss the matter while investigations by state security and investigative agencies are ongoing. They argued that the matter should not be debated in the media but rather be left to the appropriate institutions to complete their work.
The lawyers noted that this was not the first time the High Commissioner had made allegations against Dr. Agyemang despite the ongoing investigations. They emphasized that Dr. Agyemang had made himself available to the relevant state agencies and had cooperated with them to ensure a thorough investigation.
Their statement highlighted Dr. Agyemang's objective of having the matter resolved conclusively and his name cleared if investigations found no wrongdoing. They described him as a law-abiding citizen focused on serving his constituents in Abuakwa South while respecting due process.
Dr. Agyemang remains confident that the ongoing process will establish the facts. "He remains confident that in the fullness of time, the truth will prevail, and he will be vindicated," the lawyers stated.
