Akatsi: Kingship Knowledge Academy in the Volta Region has called on students to maintain discipline, focus, and determination as they progress in their academic endeavors. This message was delivered during the institution's ninth graduation ceremony, which celebrated 34 post-Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates, consisting of 14 boys and 20 girls.
According to Ghana News Agency, the guest speaker Dr. Paul Kwabla Afatsawu, a lecturer and academic counselor at Akatsi College of Education, emphasized that success is contingent upon hard work, discipline, honesty, and perseverance. Addressing the graduates under the theme 'Sow Deeply into the Future for the Harvest,' he urged students to manage their time effectively, resist negative peer influences, and stay committed to their studies. Dr. Afatsawu warned against examination malpractice and other dishonest actions, highlighting their potential adverse effects on future success and integrity.
Karim Umar Ayaana, the Municipal Director of Education for Akatsi South, delivered a keynote address comparing the graduates to caterpillars ready to transform into butterflies. Using the analogy 'The Caterpillar Who Didn't Want to Leave the Leaf,' Mr. Ayaana conveyed that students are leaving the comfort of their current school environment to take on greater responsibilities at the Senior High School level. He noted that while Junior High School teachers closely guide students, Senior High School education demands more self-discipline, independence, and responsibility. He encouraged the graduates to believe in themselves, work diligently, and remain disciplined in their future endeavors.
Mr. Godson Tome, the proprietor of the school, congratulated the graduates on completing their Junior High School education despite various challenges. He advised them to continue learning, develop positive habits, and stay focused on their goals, emphasizing that success comes through planning, discipline, and hard work rather than chance. Mr. Tome also urged students to respect their parents and uphold the school's values wherever they go, reminding them of the school anthem's call to 'Arise and Shine.' He called on parents to be responsible, supportive, and prayerful in raising their children, stressing the important roles of family, school, and church in shaping young lives.
During the ceremony, certificates and awards were presented to outstanding graduates and deserving staff members, acknowledging their hard work and contributions to academic excellence. Kingship Knowledge Academy is recognized as one of the top 10 Basic Schools in the Akatsi South Municipality. Since its founding in 2012, the school has grown to include a teaching staff of 40. Miss Adjardjah Jessica was honored as the overall best graduating pupil.
