Ketu North Assembly Empowers PWDs with Income-Generating Tools

Ketu north: The Ketu North Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with Member of Parliament Mr. Eric Edem Agbana, has provided income-generating tools to eleven persons with disabilities (PWDs) as part of a targeted empowerment initiative.

According to Ghana News Agency, the initiative was led by Municipal Chief Executive Reverend Martin Amenaki, aiming to promote economic independence and self-reliance among PWDs in the Municipality. The beneficiaries, consisting of six males and five females, were selected from various communities to ensure inclusivity, equity, and balanced development.

The items presented to the beneficiaries included freezers and ice chests, corn mill machines, cassava grating machines, welding and fabrication equipment, hand-operated sewing machines, deep freezers, and other essential working tools. Municipal officials emphasized that the items were carefully chosen and matched to the vocational interests and specific needs of the beneficiaries to ensure sustainability and long-term impact.

The beneficiaries were drawn from several communities, including Devego, Avie, Ablorme, Afornyaga, Fiagbedu, Tadzewu, Bagome, and Afife. Addressing the beneficiaries, Rev. Amenaki encouraged them to utilize the equipment effectively, viewing the support as an opportunity to improve their livelihoods and achieve economic independence. He expressed confidence in their potential to grow and succeed.

He also assured that subsequent phases of the program would be implemented to benefit more persons with disabilities in the Municipality. Some beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Assembly and the Member of Parliament, stating that the tools would significantly enhance their income-earning capacity and support their families.
