Keta: The Keta Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA), is set to commission a mechanised water project at Anyako-Konu and Seva. The project aims to provide sustainable access to clean water for the communities of Anyako-Kpota, improving living conditions and promoting public health.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Wonder Setsofia Deynu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Keta Constituency Deputy Communication Officer, stated that President John Dramani Mahama is expected to attend the ceremony, reflecting the government's commitment to water infrastructure development. Other dignitaries anticipated to grace the occasion include Mr. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, the Minister for Works, Housing, and Water Resources, and Mr. Vincent Kuagbenu, the Chief Executive Officer of CWSA.
Togbi Badu IV, the Head of the Klevia Clan in Anyako, will serve as the chairman of the occasion, symbolising community involvement and traditional leadership support. Notable attendees will include Mr. James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, Mr. Kwame Dzidzorli Gakpey, Keta Member of Parliament (MP), and Mr. Wisdom Seade, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Keta, demonstrating local government involvement in the project.
The commissioning ceremony is scheduled for 0900 hours at Anyako-Kpota, with an invitation extended to the general public to witness the event. The project features mechanised systems, including solar-powered pumps and water treatment facilities, designed for efficient service delivery, expected to boost economic activities and improve sanitation in the beneficiary communities.
The initiative aligns with the national goals of the NDC-led President Mahama administration to ensure universal access to safe water and sanitation by 2030. Local residents have expressed optimism about the project's potential to alleviate water scarcity challenges in Anyako and surrounding areas. The event marks a milestone in the Keta Municipal Assembly's efforts to enhance infrastructure and service delivery in the municipality and the region.
