Accra: Mrs Enyonam Apetorgbor, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Keta FC, has clarified that the recent open letter addressed to the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) concerning developments within the Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA) and the ongoing Middle League was intended solely as a public-interest appeal.
According to Ghana News Agency, the statement issued by the club explained that the letter sought to promote fairness, transparency, due process, and stronger institutional oversight in the administration of football in the Volta Region. Mrs Apetorgbor emphasized that the communication was not intended to defame, malign, accuse, or injure the reputation of any individual, football official, club, sponsor, or institution.
The statement highlighted that references to perceptions, stakeholder concerns, privileged access, financial influence, administrative interference, and unease within the football fraternity were made in the context of governance risks and the need to strengthen public confidence in football administration. It stressed that such concerns should not be interpreted as final findings of wrongdoing against any person or office.
Mrs Apetorgbor reaffirmed her respect for the Ghana Football Association, the Volta Regional Football Association, football administrators, sponsors, and clubs contributing to the development of the game. She acknowledged the important role sponsorship and investment continued to play in the growth of football but stressed the need for fairness, neutrality, and equal application of the rules in all football-related processes.
The central concern, the statement added, is that Volta football must be protected from any perception, allegation, or practice that undermines confidence in competition outcomes, disciplinary processes, protest procedures, or administrative decisions. Mrs Apetorgbor called on stakeholders to regard earlier communication as a constructive appeal for accountability and institutional review rather than a personal attack.
She noted that if any aspect of the previous communication created a contrary impression, 'that was neither the intention nor the purpose.' She reiterated her commitment to lawful expression, responsible public advocacy, respect for football institutions, and the continued development of football in Ghana. The ultimate objective, as stated, is to ensure that Volta football grows on the foundation of fairness, integrity, transparency, and trust.
