Kacstone Records Renovates Market Sheds, Earning Traders’ Gratitude

Paga: Traders at the Paga market in the Kassena-Nankana West District have honoured Mr. Wenowome Duriyem Aborah, Managing Director of Kacstone Records, for renovating dilapidated sheds at the market, bringing relief to hundreds of women traders. The gesture, undertaken with private funds amounting to GhS24,258.00, has restored dignity and safety to the market space, which for years had exposed traders, mostly women, to harsh weather conditions.

According to Ghana News Agency, Ms. Samitu Kumuriwo, Spokesperson for the Paga Market Traders Association, addressed the media at a mini durbar organised by the market women to honour Kacstone Records. She stated that the intervention came at a critical time when the traders had exhausted all avenues in seeking support. Ms. Kumuriwo highlighted the previous challenges faced by the traders, particularly during rainfall, and the failed attempts to secure funding from the Assembly to fix the sheds.

Ms. Kumuriwo explained that the precarious conditions compelled the market leadership and members to mobilise and seek external support, which led to the intervention by Mr. Aborah. She expressed the traders' gratitude, noting the significant improvement in their working environment and the protection now provided by the renovated sheds.

The Association presented a citation to Mr. Aborah recognizing his exceptional generosity and leadership in restoring the market sheds. The citation acknowledged his initiative in providing all materials and sponsoring the entire renovation work, which has brought relief and comfort to the traders.

Mr. Aborah expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting that the project was a collaborative effort with Mr. Michael Adangba, Kacstone Record's lead artist. He emphasized the importance of supporting market women, acknowledging their critical role in sustaining households and local economies, and pledged continued support for community development.

Reflecting on his personal connection to the market, Mr. Aborah shared his past experiences of harvesting and selling fruits there, underscoring the unsafe conditions that had persisted for over two decades. He expressed a sense of responsibility to improve the market environment for women and children.

Mr. Michael Adangba also expressed appreciation for the recognition given to the group, highlighting the significance of meaningful support coming from a compassionate heart. He commended Mr. Aborah for his generosity and commitment to the community, urging market members to remain united and prioritize dialogue in addressing challenges. He emphasized that sustaining progress would depend on maintaining harmony and reasoned decision-making in times of disagreement.
