Accra: Private legal practitioner Justice Abdulai has proposed that Ghana expand its existing court system to effectively handle corruption cases, rather than establishing new tribunals. He has argued that the country already possesses judicial structures capable of being strengthened to address specialized cases.
According to Ghana Web, Abdulai emphasized on TV3's KeyPoints program that the resources should be utilized to bolster the current judicial framework. He suggested the establishment of dedicated circuit courts specifically for corruption-related cases, instead of creating separate tribunals.
Abdulai highlighted that enhancing existing institutions would be a more practical solution. He stated, "You don't need to reinvent the wheel when you have an existing wheel fit for purpose that can be expanded to achieve the same objective."
Moreover, Abdulai noted that merely changing the name or structure of tribunals would not alter public perceptions. He remarked, "Changing the name, changing the clothes does not negate the history."
