Accra:The Deputy Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Julius Kwame Anthony, has faced significant criticism on social media after allegedly referring to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a drug addict. This comment was reportedly made during a panel discussion on Metro TV's Good Morning Ghana.
According to Ghana Web, an excerpt from the program circulating on social media shows Anthony accusing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of having a drug addict as their presidential candidate, who subsequently became President of Ghana. His remarks prompted a strong reaction from fellow panelist Kwesi Botchway, the NPP's Deputy Director of Communications, who questioned why such allegations were allowed to go unchallenged on the program.
Anthony's comments have sparked widespread outrage online, with many users criticizing both him and the program's host for not addressing the allegation. Criticisms have ranged from calling the remarks inappropriate to questioning the integrity of the media platform for allowing such statements. Social media users have also called for accountability from Metro TV for broadcasting the contentious statements without challenge.
