Accra: Ghanaian actress and filmmaker, Juliet Ibrahim, has called for industry experts to be brought in to help properly structure and develop Ghana's film and creative arts sector. Speaking in an interview on TV3 on March 10, 2026, the actress stressed the need for professionals who truly understand the industry to guide its development. According to her, just like any successful business, the film industry also requires experts and proper planning in order to grow.
According to Ghana Web, Juliet Ibrahim further noted that Ghana's tourism sector could serve as an example of how industries can be strategically developed, but added that entertainers are often left out of the conversation despite the important role they play. 'If we see this as a business that makes us, just as we've done for tourism, for instance. Even with the tourism side of things in Ghana, we do not carry along the entertainers,' she stated.
The actress explained that entertainers often contribute significantly to promoting Ghana internationally, particularly through their visibility and influence. She disclosed that through her travels and social media presence, she has personally attracted tourists to the country. 'We work hand in hand. When I travel, I know how many tourists I bring to the country because of who I am. Some people know my name, some know I'm from Ghana. When I post something on social media, they want to come because I did it or I posted it,' she explained.
According to her, the growth of Ghana's film and creative arts industry will require collaboration, strategic planning and investment. 'Until we see how everyone can work hand in hand and invest in that, understanding how we can put in experts, ideas and know the direction we're going to build the Ghanaian film industry, even the creative industry as a whole. It will really help us,' she added.
