Accra: The Deputy Minister of Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has defended the decision to continuously compare Ghana's current economy under the John Dramani Mahama-led administration to the economy under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, nearly two years after the latter's administration began.
According to Ghana Web, a lot of work has been done by the current administration to ensure the country's economy becomes resilient. Thomas Nyarko Ampem emphasized the importance of Ghanaians understanding what the government inherited and the efforts invested in improving the economic situation.
Thomas Nyarko Ampem shared these insights during an appearance on Accra-based TV3's program, Key Points, on Saturday, July 25, 2026. He stated, "For you to appreciate where we are, it is critical that you appreciate where we came from. It was to put everything in context for everybody to appreciate the achievements."
The Deputy Finance Minister further elaborated that it was essential for the public to have a good understanding of the economic trajectory and the path that the economy has taken. "It was basically a good appreciation of the trajectory of the path this economy has travelled," he added.
