Jordan Ayew Misses Penalty in Leicester City’s Defeat to Charlton Athletic

Leicester: Jordan Ayew missed the first penalty of his club career as Leicester City suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Charlton Athletic in the English Championship. The Ghana captain had the chance to get Leicester back into the game in the 56th minute from the spot but Ayew's strike from 12 yards hit the post despite sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

According to Ghana Web, compatriot Abdul Fatawu Issahaku won the penalty for Leicester after a dribble got him fouled in the box. Things went from bad to worse when the team was reduced to ten men after just 15 minutes, following Caleb Okoli's red card.

Charlton took advantage of the numbers, opening the scoring in the 36th minute through Sonny Carey, who fired home from close range after poor defending from the hosts. Just before half time, Lyndon Dykes doubled the advantage for Charlton Athletic to seal victory for the visitors.

Ayew was replaced late in the game by Zambian forward Patson Daka.
