Job Advertisements Surge by 45% in June, Reflecting Economic Growth

Accra: The number of job advertisements in selected print and online media surged by 45 per cent year-on-year in June 2026, indicating a rise in labour demand and economic growth, as reported by the Bank of Ghana (BoG) in its latest Monetary Policy Report. In June 2026, a total of 3,629 job vacancies were advertised, in contrast to 2,502 during the same period in 2025.

According to Ghana News Agency, the report also highlighted a month-on-month increase in advertised jobs by 3.1 per cent, rising from 3,519 vacancies in May 2026. This growth points to an increasing demand for labour across different sectors within the economy.

For the first half of 2026, the cumulative number of advertised jobs rose by 4.7 per cent, reaching 19,474 from 18,604 during the same timeframe in 2025. The Central Bank utilizes data on job advertisements from selected media outlets to evaluate labour market conditions and economic activity.

These figures suggest that employers are progressively ramping up recruitment efforts amid signs of recovery and expansion in crucial sectors. The report also highlighted other positive trends, such as increases in vehicle registrations, passenger arrivals, and container traffic at major seaports.

The Bank of Ghana plans to continue monitoring labour market trends as part of its comprehensive assessment of economic performance and inflation dynamics.
