Suma-ahenkro: Mr. George Adane, the Jaman North District Chief Executive in the Bono Region, announced that plans are underway to establish a cashew processing factory in the district. He explained that the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry is finalizing arrangements to construct the factory on a 60-acre plot. This initiative aims to add value to raw cashew, thereby boosting local economic growth and development.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Adane shared this information during the 'Accounting to the People' forum held at Suma-Ahenkro. At the forum, it was also revealed that the Ministry of Food and Agriculture has selected Jaman North as one of 50 districts to benefit from the government's 'Farmer Service Centre.' The Bono Regional Minister, Mr. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, is conducting the forum to provide opportunities for the Assemblies to account for their leadership to the people.
Mr. Adane further stated that the center would be developed on a 10-acre land along the Sampa-Kokoa Road. He noted that the district had received 9,900 birds under the Feed Ghana Programme, although 400 of the chicks died. The remaining birds were distributed to farmers. Additionally, 600 bags of fertilizer were distributed to 399 farmers in the district, with all government interventions aiming to boost poultry production and improve the livelihoods of the people.
Mr. Frederick Yaw Ahenkwah, the Member of Parliament for Jaman North, commended the government's performance in enhancing the district's holistic development. He also praised the government for the timely release and disbursement of the District Assemblies Common Fund, which has improved the capacities of the assemblies to execute development projects.
