Muscat: A charter flight carrying 127 Italians departed from the Omani capital, Muscat, heading back to Italy as tensions escalate in the Middle East, the Foreign Ministry in Rome announced on Monday.
According to Ghana News Agency, the individuals on the flight were either stranded in Oman or had previously been transported there from Dubai with the assistance of Italian authorities. The Italian government has been actively coordinating efforts to ensure the safe return of its citizens from the conflict-affected region.
The Foreign Ministry further stated that Italian embassies and consulates across the Gulf region are diligently working to facilitate the evacuation of more citizens, guiding them to airports that remain operational. The Italian government is prioritizing the safety of its nationals and is closely monitoring the situation.
Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani highlighted the presence of tens of thousands of Italians in the Gulf, either as tourists or residents. He urged these individuals to prioritize their safety and seek secure locations until evacuation can be arranged. The ministry is committed to providing necessary support and guidance during this critical time.
