Iran: Iran's armed forces announced they had attacked and disabled three cargo ships off the country's coast, as reported by state media. In a statement released by the Fars news agency, the Revolutionary Guards stated that they intercepted the vessels due to their 'irregular' passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Ghana News Agency, the ships identified were the Epaminondas, which was sailing under a Liberian flag from the United Arab Emirates to India; the MSC Francesca, last reported off the coast of Saudi Arabia and registered under a Panamanian flag; and a container vessel named Euphoria, reportedly Greek-owned by Iranian sources.
The Revolutionary Guards' navy seized the MSC Francesca and Epaminondas, taking them into Iranian waters, as reported by the Tasnim news agency. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), a British maritime security agency, had previously reported two incidents in waters off Iran on Wednesday.
