Accra: Iran's foreign minister on Friday accused the United States of pursuing an inconsistent and erratic foreign policy: Iran's foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, made these remarks during a press conference in New Delhi. Araghchi pointed out that the US government was sending mixed signals regarding its stance on negotiations. "The messages we receive from the American side vary from day to day. Sometimes we even receive several different messages in a single day," Araghchi stated.
According to Ghana News Agency, Araghchi highlighted President Donald Trump's response to a proposal for negotiations from Iran as an example of these mixed signals. Trump had expressed outrage at the proposal, but subsequent messages from the American side indicated an interest in continuing talks and further interaction. The foreign minister made these comments on the sidelines of the BRICS foreign ministers' meeting.
Araghchi further remarked on the US's lack of a clear strategy to end the ongoing conflict, stating that the country was in a "state of confusion." He noted that the US frequently changed its targets, leading to uncertainty in the international arena. Araghchi expressed hope that reason would prevail in the White House and emphasized Iran's readiness for all potential scenarios. "Either we return to the battlefield and to war, or we return to the negotiating table, hold talks and pursue the path of diplomacy," he said, adding that Iran is prepared for both options.
