Accra: Legal practitioner Amanda Clinton has shared her thoughts on the arrest of the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, popularly known as OK Frimpong, in the Netherlands.
According to Ghana Web, in an interview on JoyNews on May 13, 2026, Amanda Clinton stated that the reason Interpol and other international security agencies allegedly did not share details ahead of OK Frimpong's arrest was due to a lack of trust in the Ghanaian government and its security agencies. She articulated concerns that OK Frimpong, being a politically exposed person, might have been alerted to the arrest plans if Ghanaian authorities were informed beforehand.
Clinton emphasized that the incident sends a significant signal to the current and future governments of Ghana, suggesting that international law enforcement agencies might not have sufficient trust in Ghana to share critical information. She pointed out that the absence of a collaborative extradition process with the Ghanaian government highlighted this lack of trust.
Further, she remarked on the implications of the actions taken by Interpol and other international agencies, noting that they should prompt serious questions about the confidence in Ghana's security institutions. Clinton stressed the importance of effectively managing cases involving politically exposed persons to avoid international embarrassment and maintain credibility on the global stage.
