Accra: Mr Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, the Minister of the Interior, visited the Fire Academy and Training School at Jamestown, Accra, to observe the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) recruitment exercise. The Minister commended heads of the Service for ensuring a smooth and orderly process, noting the absence of struggle or anxiety among applicants.
According to Ghana News Agency, during the Minister's visit, the GNFS was conducting screenings for successful applicants based on body selection, vitals, and records validation. Mr. Muntaka emphasized the merit-based and free nature of the recruitment process, advising applicants not to pay for slots and highlighting the increasing digitalization of the process to minimize human interference. He also warned applicants to be cautious of online recruitment scams.
Deputy Chief Fire Officer (DCFO) Gilbert Klutse, Commandant of the Academy, stated that the recruitment exercise began on Thursday, January 22, and concluded on Saturday, January 24. However, Monday's activity was a mop-up session for applicants who could not receive their text messages in time. DCFO Klutse confirmed that the process was orderly, with applicants completing it in under 30 minutes.
