Wenchi: Madam Gloria Gyamfi, the Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive in the Bono Region, has issued a caution to the youth against waywardness during the nation's 69th Independence anniversary celebration. She highlighted that acts such as lawlessness, armed robbery, substance abuse, and trafficking could jeopardize the future of the young population.
According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Gyamfi expressed her concern about the increasing trend of the 'get rich' quick syndrome. This trend is evident in activities like sports betting, internet scams, money rituals, cheating, and examination malpractices in schools. She emphasized that adopting good behavior is essential for the youth to achieve their dreams and aspirations, ultimately becoming valuable national assets.
Madam Gyamfi shared her advice while addressing the opening of a quiz competition for basic schools in the Municipality, marking the Independence Day Anniversary. She called for renewed hope for the future, under the theme: 'Building prosperity, restoring hope'.
She also reiterated the commitment of President John Dramani Mahama's administration to building a prosperous nation through sound economic policies and social intervention programs. Madam Gyamfi noted that President Mahama is fulfilling his 2024 election promises and demonstrating leadership that makes a measurable difference in people's lives.
Madam Gyamfi praised the participation of the schools in the anniversary celebration and commended the six basic schools involved in the quiz competition.
