Accra: The Director of the African Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Abebe Aemro Selassie, has praised Ghana for its significant progress in crucial development areas, particularly in electricity access and improvements in living standards.
According to Ghana Web, during an interview with Channel One TV on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, Selassie highlighted that the strides made by Ghana should be credited primarily to the efforts of its citizens and their institutions, rather than IMF interventions. He emphasized that the achievements in Ghana are the result of concerted efforts by Ghanaians, including the government, businesses, Parliament, and civil societies.
Selassie noted that Ghana has made remarkable progress, particularly in expanding power accessibility, which has seen substantial growth over the past two decades. This development serves as a clear example of the country's achievements in improving living standards and infrastructure.
