Accra: Mario Balotelli, the former Italian international, has declared his support for Ghana during their World Cup clash with Croatia on Saturday, June 27, 2026. He described the Black Stars as his team of choice in the absence of Italy.
According to Ghana Web, Balotelli, who was on punditry duty for Men in Blazers, revealed his emotional connection to Ghana. He hinted at his African roots while openly backing the Black Stars during the high-stakes Group L encounter. "There is no Italy. So, obviously, I support Ghana. I'm from Ghana. I'm proud of them," Balotelli said.
Ghana entered the match knowing their qualification for the Round of 32 was already secured. Despite their 2-1 loss to Croatia, with a late winner by Nikola Vlasic, the Black Stars advanced from the group. Ghana's next challenge will be against Colombia for a spot in the round of 16 on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
